PROBLEM CAUSE CLIPPER SOLUTIONS FOR WAHL TAPER AND 2000.
Clipper won't cut cleanly or easily. Lack of oil and dirty. Sometimes a hair gets caught between the blades. Lubricate and clean your Clippers regularly.
CLIPPER OILING INSTRUCTIONS. EVERY HAIRCUT.
It is recommended that the full sized clippers are given a proper brush out before oiling [use a toothbrush, not a neck brush]. Apply one to three drops of Wahl Clipper oil as shown in (left image) and (right image) after every haircut. Yes… EVERY haircut.
Clipper is gutless and has no power to cut hair. Blades very dirty and gummed up. Dont take blades off unless you can put them back on properly, by this we mean properly aligned and on very tight. Try this instead.
CLIPPER CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS. ONCE A WEEK.
Even brushing and applying the one to three drops per haircut is not enough. Clients who have taken this regime on board have found it works. An easy and quick way to clean the clipper is to take the clipper to a basin and brush out as much of the build up you can. Then, turn the Clipper on. You may have to tune the clippers during the following operation if it makes "that noise". Force a lot [it will be dripping oil every where, hence do it over a basin] of oil between (left image) and on top (right image) of the blades working the lever arm up and down. Repeat the process several times. Tune the clipper (explained below).
Clipper is gutless and has no power to cut hair. Vibration has unscrewed the tuning screw. If this is the case it's like trying to drive a car around on idle. As soon as you put pressure on, it stalls. Tune the clipper (explained below).
Clipper is gutless and has no power to cut hair and makes a "missing" and muted noise. Damaged or weakened coil. Probably due to a drop. Clean and tune the clipper. If still no good, in most cases the [black] Case is cracked as well. If so, bin the clipper, as it is not economical to repair from this level. Rapid Edge also sells clippers.
Clipper makes "that" loud, sharp, horrible rattling noise from inside the case. Incorrect tuning. Can be caused by a drop. RAPID EDGE CLIPPER TUNING INSTRUCTIONS.
We assume you have cleaned and oiled the clipper. Turn the clipper on. Hold the clipper level in your left hand with the lever arm up [fine].
1. Turn tuning screw (image below) clockwise till it makes "that" noise.
2. Turn the tuning screw anticlockwise until "that noise" stops.
3. Turn further anticlockwise one quarter of one turn.

This is the correct tuning position. This tuning will change with temperature, how loaded up [dirty], how well and how often you oil your clippers.
Clipper makes a rattling sound from the blades. Incorrect blade tension usually caused by a drop. The blades need to be tensioned. You need a special device to correctly measure the tension on clipper blades. If you have worked for any time with rattling blades, very likely you will have damaged the blades and will have to replace the blade set.

Clipper makes a rattling sound from the blades. Broken or bent tooth. Replace the blades. If it is also a tension problem, putting on new blades without correct tension will result in blade destruction. Call Rapid Edge for service.
Clipper Lever Arm comes loose all the time. Damaged Nose Plate. Replace the Nose plate. The thread in the plastic nose plate is stripped. Call Rapid Edge for service.
Clipper Lever Arm spins and will not move the blades. Damaged Lever Arm. Replace the Lever Arm. The lug on the Lever arm is sheared off. Call Rapid Edge for service.
Cracked Case. Drop. The Case can be replaced but we do not recommend it. Usually the blades are damaged. Sometimes the Coil is damaged or weakened. Further, the complete dismantling of the Clipper upsets the Cord and Switch and these should be replaced. Bottom line is, in most cases, it's cheaper to buy a new Clipper. Rapid Edge also sells clippers.
Clipper power jumps on and off. Damaged cord. Replace the Cord with a 3-metre cord.
Clipper power jumps on and off. Damaged Switch Replace the Switch.
Clipper power jumps on and off. Faulty switch post. The post where the switch arcs on is burnt and then will not form a circuit. Replace the post.

Trimmer won't cut. Blades dirty and gummed up. Trimmer blades need oil too! Brush them out every haircut with the toothbrush and apply one or two drops once or twice a day.
Trimmer won't cut. Blades damaged. Sometimes the plastic section between the blades shears off. If so, you will notice the blades are miss aligned. Replace the blade set. Call Rapid Edge for service.
Trimmer won't cut. Hair between the Blades. Remove Blades and clean.
Trimmer won't cut. Blades over oiled. If too much oil is applied to the Cordless clipper sometimes they won't cut. Take blades off and clean.
Trimmer won't cut. Broken tooth. Replace the blade set. Call Rapid Edge for service.
Trimmer goes flat or wont take a charge, as it should. Battery memory problems. These Trimmers use Ni-Cad batteries and are prone to this problem. The instructions for a new Trimmer are to charge it for 16 hours before use, then use without recharging till its flat. Repeat this cycle three times.
After setting up the battery memory you can then supposedly recharge and top up the battery. However, in an ideal world, you should NEVER "top up" a Ni-Cad battery. The way to do it is to have a spare Cordless out the back, fully charged and ready to go, and use the stand in the salon as a stand and not connected to the power. When it goes flat swap it for the fully charged one.
Trimmer wont take a charge, as it should. Charging stand dirty. Sometimes oil or hair impairs a good connection when recharging. Clean the stand. Make sure both the terminals in the stand are up.
